Job Summary:

Responsible for experience mixing IV Chemotherapy and Hematological Drugs in a Hematology Oncology practice. Must be able to develop a rapport with the providers and patients. Maintains a steady and productive work pace.


Position Description and Duties:

• Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
• Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infectioncontrol policies and protocols.
• Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
• Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
• Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
• Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
• Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
• Understanding and practice of all safety, HIPAA and OSHA requirements when mixing biologics required. Strong background with HMO ordering, authorizing, and storage
• Highly motivated with Organizational and computer skills.
• Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communications skills.
• Must possess mature and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work with nurses and scheduling staff to ensure proper inventory.
• Financial awareness expected. Advocacy experience a plus
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

• Must have completed a pharmacy technician training program approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy and register with the state board. Must have Florida State or National license
• 12 years' experience mixing IV Chemotherapy and Hematological Drugs in a Hematology Oncology practice.
• 23 years' experience in a medical facility
• Must have excellent patient relations skills.
• Handles interruptions and unpredictable situations.
• Must demonstrate good judgment in regard to confidentiality policy.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. Upon occasions, be able to assist in properly moving a patient. Be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
