Tech Fab is looking for an Estimator to fill their open position in Houston, TX. The new team member is required to have a minimum of five years' experience in estimating or project management.


A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ESTIMATOR
Reviews data and blueprints to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists of cost estimates.

Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, change order pricing, vendors or subcontractor's agreement, and determining cost effectiveness.

• Consults with customers, subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Facilitate change orders with project management
• Assists in preparing subcontractor bid packages.
• Assist project managers on bid followups when required.
• Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, etc.
• Review offers and quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
• Submit estimate reports and bids to project managers, clients, etc.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, etc.

Assist project managers with communications to entire team during kick-off meetings


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of five years' experience in estimating or project management

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and other materials typically issued during a bid

General knowledge of structural, vessels, piping, valves and instrumentation, pipeline construction means and methods

Capable of writing an accurate and formal proposal containing technical information

Ability to coordinate the bid solicitation process

Proficient in Excel

Strong knowledge of Word and Outlook required

Knowledge of Compress (ASME Code) software

Basic understanding of the following standards:

• ASME Section 8 Div.
• ASME B31.1, B31.2, B31.3, B31.4 and B3
• Nice to have: AISC Structural Code and AWS

Strong knowledge of midstream production equipment

Basic knowledge of upstream and downstream equipment

Good time management as this position will work on multiple estimating assignments at a time

Strong organizational skills

Must be team oriented

Self-driven/self-starter

Good written and oral communication skills

Must be physically located in Houston, TX


Pay:
$80, $110,000.00 per year
