Where You Will Work:


As a Correspondence Officer you will use your critical thinking and analytical skills to facilitate the management of unclassified, controlled, and classified (workflow management, approvals, responses, storage, tracking, transport, accountability, etc.) in the Office of the Executive Secretariat of the National Nuclear Security Administration.

This position is located in Washington, D.C. with standard Monday thru Friday Operating Hours.


What You Will Do:


Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Appropriately and effectively addresses highly complex issues escalated to assigned office/team. Displays ability to appropriately interact with leaders during occasional interactions inside and outside the organization. May serve as a support team lead, assigning activities to other support staff and checking completion.
  • Applies discretion to triage and manage complex, sensitive situations resulting from a wide range of requests, questions and problems directed toward the assigned office, and/or team. Appropriately prioritizes, addresses and/or identifies the level of urgency and escalates.
  • May serve as a support team lead, assigning activities to other support staff and checking work completion. May also provide advice/training to new or less experienced team members. (No supervisory responsibilities.)
  • Responsible for the timeliness, quality, and accurate completion of own work as well as effective collaboration with federal staff/wider team on behalf of the customer.
  • Analyzing and processing all incoming mail, packages, and documents requiring Administrator or Secretarial signature, to include internal and external requirements.
  • Reviewing and analyzing incoming documents to determine action required, and distributing to appropriate offices for response/review.
  • Assigning due dates and establishing suspense files as appropriate to track/ monitor correspondence.
  • Tracking, handling, processing, and packaging of classified, controlled, and unclassified documents according to all relevant Requirements and Federal regulations.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating Standard Operating Procedures and other guidance documents.
  • Supporting or leading weekly staff meetings and continuous improvement process using lessons learned and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support Interagency Collaboration Processing and Tracking of Correspondence
  • Document reproduction, packaging, and transmittal, and related support.
  • Records and file management according to all Federal records guidelines and requirements, to include proper disposal according to security requirements.

What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 10 years of relevant operational, analytical and/or administrative experience; associate's degree and 8 years of experience; or bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Active DOE Q or Top Secret clearance
  • Desire and ability to work in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Good presentation and research skills
  • Strong communications skills including writing, copy editing, and quality control
  • Relevant experience working in a government or military office. Experience working in an Executive Secretariat strongly preferred.
  • Relevant experience mentoring or coaching others.

Pay:
$75, $100,000.00 per year
