DESCRIPTION:


The Facilities Planner, reporting to Facilities Planning, Facilities Division, participates in the planning, development, implementation, and transition & activation of projects on the health campus.

Supports Senior Facilities Planners and Project Managers with space planning, programming, and enabling work; assists in overseeing disruption mitigations for construction projects in patient care areas and coordination of complex infrastructure shutdowns; works with Senior Facilities Planners, regulatory team, and departments to support the preparation of spaces for licensing and activation.

Works closely with various user groups, as well as support services throughout the hospital to ensure smooth project delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Project Managers during all project phases.
  • Assists the Senior Facilities Planner with developing project scope and leading users through the design process.
  • Acts as liaison between User/Business Owner and Project Manager.
  • Assists the Senior Facilities Planner in coordinating with internal and external teams such as Environmental Health & Safety, Infection Prevention and Clinical Epidemiology, Facilities Engineering, Construction Projects Department, and others, to ensure smooth project delivery and execution, and compliance with all University of California Office of the President (UCOP) policies.
  • Assists with space programming.
  • Manages disruption planning, including enabling moves and shutdown requests.
  • Assists the Senior Facilities Planner in transition and activation planning for projects of all sizes.
  • Works closely with Licensure/Regulatory to ensure smooth transition to first patient.
  • Ensures that IS, FF&E and Capital equipment is coordinated, procured, and installed.
  • Completes small, nonconstruction projects independent of Project Managers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, business, healthcare administration or related area, plus three (3) years of related experience/training, OR Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training.
  • Experience in space planning, functionalspace programming, equipment planning, logistics planning, and/or capital project development, preferably in a complex healthcare organization.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications and communicate information to lay persons.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical centers and university organizations, activities, functions, and goals.
  • Solid ability to work effectively in a team environment, in a dynamic environment of constantly changing priorities without compromising work quality and productivity.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of individuals across a variety of health systems and campus offices, architects, project managers and committees in meeting deadlines.
  • Effectively present findings and communicate clearly and effectively to a broad variety of people in writing and in person.
  • Ability to employ interpersonal skills in situations calling for tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree in architecture, professional engineering, healthcare administration, or other planningrelated field.
  • Experience in transition/activation, logistics, and/or move planning.
  • Exposure to clinical operations and workflow.
  • Demonstrated experience with HCAI and CDPH or similar regulatory agencies.
  • Understanding of medical equipment planning and procurement.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$82,500 - $151,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent:
$ $72.56

The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
