    Summary



    The Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology) is accountable for specialty care of patients seen in the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic and inpatients admitted for Cardiology Services.



    Duties


    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Maintains a Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, including patient follow-up, follow-up of

      laboratory results, and telephone follow-ups with patients to check status.
    • Medication management of general cardiology patients who require assistance

      between clinic appointments
    • Performs cardiovascular stress tests (exercise and pharmacologic)
    • Provides coverage on inpatient cardiology service working with a hospitalist attending

      (NHS Cardio Service)
    • Provides Coverage on inpatient heart failure consultation service
    • Provides Coverage on inpatient general cardiology consultation service
    • Provides preadmission screening appointments for cardiac catheterization patients
    • Screens patients for disease prevention and identifies health risks. Orders laboratory, radiologic and other diagnostic tests and provide initial interpretations. Serves as an agent of the Cardiology physicians regarding prescriptive authority in conjunction with the Fellows. Assesses patient's learning needs, development, and implementation of plans to meet needs, and instructing patients and families in self-care and treatment.
    • Participates in the operations of the Cardiology clinics as needed. Manages the scheduling and arranges appointments and clinical reminders for select patients in these clinics.
    • Reviews all laboratory, radiology reports, diagnostic testing, consultative reports for patients seen in clinics and reports these results to patients as required by VA directives.
    • Serves on additional hospital committees as directed by the Chief of Medicine or Cardiology Section Supervisor.
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM

    Compressed/Flexible: Authorized

    Telework: Ad-Hoc telework may be available as determined by agency policy and service needs.

    Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards.

    Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).

    Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

    Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

    Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program.
