- Obtains and records complete medical history of patient.
- Performs physical examinations and documents results.
- Orders, evaluates and monitors medical and laboratory diagnostic tests and treatment plans including laboratory tests, x-rays, pharmaceuticals, blood products and interdisciplinary consults in collaboration with the attending physician and residents.
- Prepares, develops and initiates treatment plan of burn care with attending physician and residents. Develops inpatient and outpatient care plan in coordination with residents and attending and outpatient burn clinic nurse practitioner.
- Ensure protocols and burn care processes are being followed as deemed appropriate to the patients condition.
- Participate in burn wound evaluation and hydrotherapy, along with taking photographs to document burn wounds and help provide appropriate pain control.
- Coordinate care of burn patients with different specialist including PT/OT, nutrition, social work, case management, plastics, ophthalmology, trauma, psychiatry, and Life Stress.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures based on education, experience and departmental needs.
- Educates and counsels patient and family members on burn injuries, desired results of treatment plans, expectations during treatment burn injuries and recovery and other related areas.
- Conducts patient rounds and documents assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan in progress notes.
- Participate in burn outreach as part of burn program
- Prepares discharge summaries, as assigned. Responds to emergencies and initiates appropriate treatment until relieved of their duties by a physician.
- Will participate in clinical and experimental research, including identifying patients for appropriate studies and participating in burn outreach and data collection.
- Maintains and enhances expertise through appropriate educational and organizational activities.
- Must have on file at all times accurate and up-to-date documentation demonstrating a supervising/collaborating physician relationship.
- Registered Nurse licensure to practice in State of Michigan
- Board Certified in Acute Care Gerontology is required.
- CCRN. Graduate of an accredited Acute Care, Adult Primary Care, or Family NP program, with AACN, ANCC or AANP certification.
- Must possess an unrestricted license to practice in the State of Michigan, including Registered Nurse and Nurse Prescriber authorization, and an unrestricted DEA registration for each practice location.
- Three years of professional experience in an acute setting, preferred.
- Supervisory management experience is required and ACLS is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program, current Registered Nurse license in State of Michigan.
- Knowledge of professional theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to supervise. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions, ability to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments, ability to assist in administration of patient care.
- Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings.
- Skill in preparing records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Excellent analytical ability necessary to independently identify and resolve extremely complex and unusual problems or discrepancies.
- Skill in exercising a high degree of imitative, judgment, discretion, and decision making.
- Ability to interpret laboratory reports and radiographic reports such as X-rays, CT Scans, MRI's with support from physicians and discuss findings with patients, therapists, and staff.
- Ability to code, bill and document.
- Ability to interpret, adapts and applies guidelines and procedures. High level of interpersonal skills, written and verbal, necessary to effectively communicate, establish, and maintain productive working relationships with people inside and outside the Department and/or Practice.

Job Summary:
Under the limited direction of the attending Physician or designee, the Nurse Practitioner obtains and records patient medical history; performs physical examinations; orders, evaluates and monitors medical and laboratory diagnostic tests and treatment plans. Prepares, develops and initiates treatment plan in consultation with attending physician; performs routine invasive procedures; performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Educates and counsels patient and family members on condition, desired results of treatment plans, expectations during illness and recovery, and other related areas. Participates in the management of patient's care, determining need for consultation to ensure the continuity and quality of care.

Job Summary:
Nurse practitioner will participate in the spectrum of care on the burn service which is a part of a ABA verified Burn program. Nurse practitioner will participate in full spectrum of burn care including consults, inpatient care, pre and postop care. They will work with residents on service and provide guidance on protocols of care and provide orientation on the burn service. They will help coordinate care of the burn patients with other specialists that is part multidisciplinary care of burn care. They will participate in activities of the burn program including outreach, multidisciplinary rounds, and burn systems and research.
