    OVERVIEW:
    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the assistant plant manager is an important role and is ideal for someone who likes a fast paced work environment where they can make an impact on the operation on a daily basis. This position could lead to the plant manager's role in a few years.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Hire, manage and train all scheduling, production, maintenance, shipping and receiving personnel

    · Responsible for retention and development of employees

    · Continuously improve production processes

    · Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational

    · Ensure the consistent execution of all SOP's throughout the plant

    · Maintain safety and quality standards including ISO 9001:2015 standards

    · Negotiate with suppliers on plant purchases

    · Cost management for all plant purchases

    · Approve scheduling of production jobs to meet customer due dates and achieve maximum efficiency

    · Responsible for achieving production goals for volume and quality

    · Accurately quoting of new production jobs

    · Maintain loading times for outbound shipments

    · Must be able to effectively communicate with Inside Sales, Purchasing, Quality and Shipping departments

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    · Minimum of 5 years work experience in Steel Service Center or Metal Industry is preferred, but not required

    · Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role is preferred, but not required

    · Strong communication skills, both written and verbal required

    · Strong customer focus

    · Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
