The Chair for Wind Power Drives (CWD) at RWTH Aachen University conducts research in the field of drive systems for wind turbines.

In numerous research projects, the CWD has continuously developed wind turbines as a whole and their components in detail. The theoretical and simulation work is accompanied by experimental investigations of wind turbines at both component and system level.

Your Profile:

  • You are interested in examining proven machine elements in new application areas
  • You are enthusiastic about developing simulation solutions that are then tested experimentally
  • You have previous knowledge of simulation methods used in mechanical engineering (desirable, but not required)
  • You have a completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related fields
  • You have an independent and responsible work style

Your Tasks:

You will strengthen our team in the area of component development.

The focus of this advertised research activity is the development of a simulation-based wear calculation for sliding bearings in wind turbine gearboxes, as well as their experimental validation.
