    Senior Sustainability Specialist, WW Sustainability

    Job ID:

Join us at the cutting edge of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements that support Amazon's long-term worldwide sustainability strategy.

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people.

The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon's scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company.

We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.

World Wide Sustainability Technology (WWST) is the central technology organization in Sustainability. Our vision is to build solutions that enable Amazon to be the Earth's most sustainable company.

Our mission is to integrate, and make accessible, science-based facts, sustainability metrics and messaging into all aspects of Amazon's business.

Our solutions enable other Amazon teams to accelerate the execution of work to meet our sustainability goals, including Amazon's public goals and commitments.

We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Specialist to join our growing Sustainability Science team.

In this role, you will use your specialized expertise in sustainability impact assessment to help business teams understand their impacts and orient themselves around the potential solution space.

You will prototype and conduct comprehensive sustainability assessments or modify existing analyses and models to identify opportunities for impact measurement, process improvements, and strategic decision-making.

Leveraging life cycle assessment (LCA) results, sustainability metrics, and advanced data analysis techniques, you will inform product development, operational strategies, and business decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sustainability principles and impact measurement methodologies, including life cycle assessment (LCA) and advanced data analysis methods.

Proven experience utilizing sustainability data and modeling techniques to inform strategic decisions and drive business impact is essential.

You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex sustainability findings to design and implement practical solutions.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, operations, and business customers, to implement sustainability insights and drive the implementation of sustainability measurement solutions.

You will interpret and communicate complex sustainability findings, translating technical information into clear and actionable recommendations for various stakeholders.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Maintain, update, and establish internal standards, emission factor datasets, methodology documentation, and other resources related to impact measurement science.
    • Design and conduct comprehensive sustainability assessments to identify opportunities for sustainable design, process improvements, and strategic decision-making.
    • Engage with internal and external sustainability communities to share knowledge, best practices, and identify innovative solutions.
    • Evaluate and ensure the quality and reliability of sustainability studies, assessments, and data sources, establishing robust methodologies and best practices.
    • Resolve complex footprint measurement requests and sustainability-related inquiries from stakeholders, providing accurate and timely assessments, analyses, recommendations, and holding stakeholder teams to a high standard for both solutions and practices.
