HOURLY RATE:
$ hourly, depending upon experience, plus benefits
LOCATION:
Marin & Contra Costa Counties
REPORTS TO:
Executive Director
Community Violence Solutions reaches approximately 10,000 young people each year in Contra Costa and Marin Counties through presentations at elementary, middle, and high schools and on college campuses.
Presentations are designed to promote healthy relationships, especially among young males and provide important information about sexual assault and dating violence, and are interactive in nature.
CVS' Prevention Services offer a program exclusively for male students where participants examine the influence of media and culture on male sexual violence against women, terms and definitions of sexual assault, how rape impacts men and boys, intervention strategies for stopping sexual assault, and how to be an ally to women and girls.
Workshops for adults on sexual harassment, personal safety/cyber-safety and self-defense are also presented to community organizations.PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Prevention Educator is responsible for providing prevention services to schools and community organizations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Provide schoolbased workshops for children (at an ageappropriate level) and young men and their caregivers in regard to violencefree relationships and teens on multiple topics, including date rape prevention, sexual assault, and sexual harassment prevention, and community workshops to adults on rape prevention.
- Interface with school and community agencies in regard to sexual assault prevention and CVS services.
- Represent CVS in related community meetings and events.
- Assist the Program Coordinator/Director in the development and implementation of training activities.
- Document all service delivery and coordinate prevention programs.
- Take state certified 50+ hour crisis intervention training.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
BA or equivalent work experience required.**-
Ability to relate to and communicate with youth and adults as well as staff in public agencies
:
- Excellent public speaking and training ability.
- Ability to work effectively with all genders and multiple age groups
- CA Drivers License, vehicle, and insurance.
- Able to obtain clearance from the California Department of Justice.
- Computer skills in Word.
- Bilingual bicultural/bilingual (Spanish language) desired.
Pay:
$ $28.00 per hour
