Position Overview:


The Charge Nurse is a key role responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of patient care on a designated shift.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of residents while maintaining a high standard of care.

The Charge Nurse works closely with the nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, and the management team to create a nurturing and supportive environment for both residents and staff.


Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care Coordination:

  • Assess and prioritize the healthcare needs of residents and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Monitor and oversee the implementation of care plans, ensuring residents receive appropriate medical attention, medication administration, and daily living support.

Staff Supervision and Support:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the nursing team on the assigned shift.
  • Allocate tasks and responsibilities among nursing staff based on their expertise and the needs of residents.
  • Offer mentoring, training, and support to nursing staff to enhance their skills and professional development.

Medication Management:

  • Ensure accurate and timely administration of medications, adhering to prescribed dosages and schedules.
  • Monitor medication storage, handling, and documentation to comply with regulatory guidelines and safety standards.

Clinical Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed and uptodate medical records for each resident, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Foster effective communication among healthcare team members, residents, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to address residents' needs comprehensively.

Resident Advocacy:

  • Act as an advocate for residents, promoting their rights, preferences, and choices in their care.
  • Address any concerns or complaints from residents or their families and work towards a resolution.

Infection Control and Safety:

  • Implement and enforce infection control protocols and safety measures to safeguard residents and staff.
  • Report and respond to any potential hazards or incidents promptly.

Quality Assurance:

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to ensure the nursing home meets or exceeds healthcare standards.
  • Identify areas for improvement and contribute to the development of best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or (LPN) with a valid nursing license in Michigan.
  • Previous experience in longterm care or nursing home settings is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and supervise a team.
  • Strong clinical assessment and criticalthinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and nursing documentation.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations related to nursing home care.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to providing residentcentered care.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, PRN


Pay:
$ $45.25 per hour
