Lead Production Engineer - Join our team at Serco!
Are you searching for an opportunity where you can contribute to shipbuilding production efforts for the Navy's top surface combatant? At Serco, you have the chance to utilize your expertise to support PMS 400D in overseeing production across the DDG 51 Class ships, focusing on identifying production challenges that could affect cost, schedule, and ship quality.
As the Lead Production Engineer, you will play a crucial role in a team of skilled engineers, analysts, and field technicians, aiming to supervise the production and delivery of the Navy's DDG-51 class ships while enhancing the efficiency and quality of the shipyard's processes to guarantee ship reliability.
In this position, you will:
- Monitor the progress of each ship and the class concerning the Performance Management Baseline (PMB).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and track production metrics and define key milestone criteria.
- Evaluate ship production progress against the PMB, assess risk/opportunity index, and ensure learning levels are met.
- Identify inconsistencies between physical progress metrics and EVM reported metrics and report any issues to PMS 400D.
- Assist in planning and executing Initial and ReBaseline Reviews, providing training, developing questions, and tracking action items, risks, and opportunities.
- Compare proposed resource load with shipyard craft resources, focusing on critical craft overloads.
- Participate in meetings with SUPSHIP, shipyard personnel, and subcontractors, offering insights where necessary.
- Support the task lead in monitoring team performance, identifying resource adjustments as needed.
- Submit monthly reports of completed activities to the task lead.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent ship production support experience.
- Experience in shipyard production and supervisory roles.
- Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance.
- Five to ten years of US Navy shipbuilding experience.
- Proficiency in establishing and monitoring production metrics, interpreting IMS and EVM reporting, and MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and technical report writing skills.
- Willingness to travel at least 10% of the time.
