DIRECTOR II - MAINTENANCE, OPERATION AND TRANSPORTATION JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services, plans, directs, and coordinates the District's maintenance, custodial, grounds, and student transportation functions; exercises responsibilities for the District's emergency preparedness, safety, and security measures; assures efficient and cost-effective departmental operations; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Plans, organizes, controls and directs the District's facilities maintenance, custodial, grounds, security, student transportation and warehouse functions.
- Coordinates state and federal reporting procedures related to Facilities, Custodial, Grounds and Transportation as appropriate in compliance with reporting deadlines and legal requirements.
- Directs and oversees safety compliance district wide. Including school district operations of Hazardous Material, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; schedules, assigns and inspects work; schedules and arranges training as needed.
- Oversees and manages the facility renovation and ensures conformance with contract documents and compliance with all provisions of the public contract code and bid requirements.
- Responds accurately and diplomatically to inquiries and requests from district staff, other agencies, and members of the public consistent with district policies, procedures and department practices.
- Develops and administers the budget for maintenance, custodial, grounds and transportation, emergency preparedness, safety and facilities management.
- Attends and conducts a variety of meetings as assigned; represents the district at various community meetings.
- Assures the preparation and maintenance of required records, reports, files and lists as appropriate; compliance with local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Credential and/or License:
Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License and be insurable by the District's insurance carrier at standard insurance rates
Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Program
For purpose of reasonable suspicion and post accident testing, a District employee in this position shall be treated as a covered employee whenever operating, about to operate, or having just completed operating any District vehicle or any vehicle for which the dDistrict pays the license fees.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
Eight (8) years professional management experience with increasing amounts of responsibility in school business management, project management, and organizational planning required
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles, methods, legal mandates and procedures related to school district maintenance, operations, transportation and safety programs; principles, methods and techniques and strategies of organization, management and supervision; law, policies and regulations pertaining to cleaning, maintenance, repair and safety of school facilities.
General knowledge of principles and practices of budgeting and accounting in governmental agencies with reference to internal auditing and inventory control procedures; basic electronic data processing techniques and methods; inventory control systems.
Ability to estimate the cost of maintenance, repair, and cleaning procedures; prepare and read sketches, drawing, schematics and blueprints; plan, coordinate and direct the work of maintenance, grounds, custodial and transportation personnel; maintain accurate records; develop and present clear, concise and comprehensive reports; develop, implement and maintain operational procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be according to the current schedule
