Position Summary:


Midnight Sun Global Services is looking to hire a Traveling Superintendent to manage the overall construction of multiple Federal projects.

This position is based primarily in the Poquoson, VA area and may travel to other sites which may include, but is not limited to, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Texas.

This position may function in concurrent roles.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • During design development: participate in meetings with Architects and Engineers to assess scope of work and sequencing; valueengineering, and other input as needed.
  • During preconstruction: collaborate with the project team to develop staffing requirements, labor productivity rates, cost estimates, constructability reviews, execution planning, submittal logs, schedules, and subcontractor engagement.
  • During construction: maintain a physical presence at the job site at all times and oversee all construction and related activities; scheduling (CPM and short interval); and direct all selfperform trades, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in site visits and meetings to assess scope of work, site conditions, logistics planning, and determine necessary resources to deliver project success.
  • Prepare, provide, and track: job reports to include labor and equipment usage; Request for Information (RFI's); and Change Orders; Progress reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience as an Onsite Superintendent for Federal projects.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex drawings/plans/specifications; to include site/civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to prioritize, assign, and oversee work of multiple crews.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication (written/verbal) skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); Scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera). Familiarity with Procore a plus.
  • OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR; EM 385 safety, USACE CQCM certification a plus.

Work Environment:


  • Performance of the required job duties will be in an office environment along with visits to sites that are under construction, which may include various weather conditions.
  • May be required to drive between project sites that can be miles apart or miles from the assigned office location.

  • Ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far, uneven, or temporary.

  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
