    Job Summary:

    The Senior Process Piping Designer will lead / support the delivery of process piping design projects from various industries. This role involves client interactions, fee estimating, piping and equipment design work, specification coordination, construction estimating, leading other designers on projects, quality and coordination reviews, and coordination with other engineering disciplines on projects. The Senior Process Piping Designer must be able to meet critical deadlines and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This role will also involve mentoring the development of junior engineers and designers.

    In this role, you will

    • Work as a lead on project teams over other technical staff, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated and that the quality assurance measures have been followed
    • Ensure development of consistent and high-quality project deliverables
    • Ensure that our process piping designs conform to the applicable code requirements
    • Listen to our clients' needs and independently provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client's needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle costs
    • Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary
    • Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements
    • Work with Salas O'Brien groups to pursue project opportunities
    • Complete all required Salas O'Brien training
    • Able to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, customer service
    • Develop and refine process piping design methodologies, tools, and standards
    • Stay abreast of relevant industry developments and technology advancements
    • Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed
    • Mentor team members to develop additional strengths and competencies within the group
    • Will be an ambassador of the firm to the public
    • Will always adhere to our core values and beliefs

    Requirements:

    • +10 years of applicable industry experience
    • Experience executing multi discipline designs in an integrated approach
    • Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.

    Skills/abilities:

    • Software:
    • Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk Revit
    • Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk ReCap
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam
    • Ability to read and understand drawings and technical specifications
    • Proficient in field investigations and measurements
    • Ability to create 3D piping and equipment models from P&IDs, piping specifications, and reference drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge
    • Strong at 2D drawing creation for communication of a design in construction documents.
    • Working knowledge of Industry Standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, PIP
    • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures
    • Works closely with process engineers and other related disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems
    • Ability to work with point clouds as part of the design process is a requirement for this position
    • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills, and is sensitive to the need to change their personal behavior quickly when needed to effectively communicate and coordinate with others
    • Good attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies

    Location: Evansville, IN and in the field

    Travel: Work will involve travel to clients' facilities; 10- 15% of the time.
