Midtown Manhattan, with a satellite Bronx office, dedicated to serving children and families
with medical complexity, chronic health conditions, significant disabilities and behavioral
challenges. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Master's Level
Foster Family Service Worker to join its Homefinding Department.
Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Foster Family Services Social
assessing and supporting prospective foster and adoptive families, ensuring the best possible
highly skilled at building strong relationships with recruited and kinship foster parents.

- Position Type: Full Time, Monday
- Friday, hybrid schedule.
- Pay Range: $60,000 $65,000

Description of Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of prospective foster/adoptive families' readiness and capacity to care for children with special healthcare needs, considering all household members.
- Write comprehensive homestudies about each assigned foster parent applicant.
- Facilitate the matching process for children referred for placement, ensuring compatibility with suitable families.
- Conduct office, home, and community visits as necessary for each family.
- Provide precertification and recertification training to foster families, following New York City and Stateapproved traumainformed curriculum.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all ACS and NAC paperwork, adhering to agency and regulatory standards.
- Manage caseload through CONNECTIONS system, including initial certification, training, and annual recertification records of assigned families.
- Participate in individual and group supervision, agency staff meetings, and clinical inservice trainings, as well as Family Team Conferences and Case Reviews as required.
- Offer advocacy, information, and referrals to other NAC departments and external agencies when needed.
- Fulfill 24hour oncall duty coverage on a rotational basis.
Required Education and Experience:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school; LMSW preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Prior Training and/or group work experience.
- Prior experience in child welfare, with a preference for foster care background a plus, but not required.
Required Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to work within an interdisciplinary team.
