Guests are invited to enter a world where they are free to play, shop, dine, spa, meet or simply relax - however they define a perfect day.

Situated on oceanfront Collins Avenue in the heart of Millionaire's Row, Fontainebleau Miami Beach is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels on Miami Beach.

Opened in 1954 and designed by Morris Lapidus, it was the most luxurious hotel on Miami Beach, and is thought to be the most significant building of Lapidus' career.

Responsibilities:

General Summary of Duties

:

The Director of Convention Services is responsible in the overall management of the Convention Services department.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands

:

Requires mobility.

Requires prolonged sitting.

Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and colors.

Ability to push and/or pull a file cabinet weighing five to fifteen pounds.

Travel may be required.

Typical Working Conditions

:

Work is usually performed in an office environment.

Ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.

Examples of Duties

(includes but is not limited to the following)

:

Train, supervise and work with all convention services staff, in order to solicit and book banquet and catering functions, as well as the planning, merchandising and execution of the functions.

Assign groups to CSM's taking into account workload, scheduling, customer knowledge, group intricacies and history.
Implement contractual clauses in all group contracts.

Ensure that deposit schedules, room and space releases clauses and all concessions are adhered to.
Ensure department compliance with Fontainebleau Miami Beach policies, procedures, and

programs.
Prepare and oversee the department's financial goals.
Develop/Implement Space Release Policy and guidelines for Public Room Rental.
Participate in weekly staff meeting, weekly operations meeting and management meetings.
Develop S.O.P.'s to address any communication issues between CS Department and all other departments within the hotel.
Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
Be a leader and a role model to all employees.

Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Well organized and demonstrated strong problem solving skills.

Effective leadership, supervisory, and management skills.

Budgeting and analytical skills.

Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, management and staff.

Understand and maximize the utilization of all automated sales & reservation systems involved with group business.

Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent resort data.

Education

:

Requires a Bachelor's degree or combination of four years relevant education and experience.

Experience

:

Five years experience as Director of Convention Services in a high volume, complex environment.
