Position Summary:


The Executive Director is responsible for 24-hour leadership and management of New England Homes for the Deaf, a non-profit organization.

The New England Homes for the Deaf operates a long-term skilled nursing and rehab unit; a Level IV Rest Home; an independent living building; and manages three regional Deaf Senior Citizens' Centers in Eastern Massachusetts.


The Mission of New England Homes for the Deaf is to provide long term health care, housing, recreational activities, and social support for Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing individuals in an accessible, barrier free and culturally sensitive environment with optimal communication and architectural resources.


Responsibilities:


  • Principal accountability for financial stability including preparation of annual budget; accounts receivable; review of monthly financial statements including departmental budget reports, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc. Responsible for controlling costs. Also responsible for assisting in preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports.
  • Help Directors to set and achieve goals within their departments in order to achieve a common annual goal of providing the very best care and services available to our residents.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations through familiarity with all such regulations as they are written and interpreted.
  • Ensure compliance with all facility policies and procedures through annual update and distribution of procedure book to staff.
  • Maintain appropriate staff levels, recruit individuals from the Deaf community, and provide ASL training for all staff.
  • Be proactive in strategic management in meetings with the Board and help them plan agendas and develop teaching/learning materials when appropriate.
  • Responsible for approving all expenditures.
  • Serve as chief liaison with community organizations, politicians, and key constituent groups. Remain informed about upcoming regulations, changes that will affect NEHD,
  • All other duties as assigned by the Board.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree in health care administration, Public Health Administration, or the like, and current Licensed Nursing Home Administrator's license, in good standing, in the State of Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of five years progressive administrative experience working in an agency serving the Deaf community and/or the elderly with demonstrated success in budget management.
  • Demonstrated success in fund raising and grant writing.
  • Demonstrated ability in public speaking, community skills and interpersonal relations.
  • A history of successful state surveys.
  • Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer sources and maximization of benefits. Proven success in managing these opportunities.
  • Strong history of successful census building, linking with HMOs and hospitals as well as optimizing referral sources with the community.
  • All staff are required to take our free, onsite ASL and Culture classes.

Pay:
$135, $145,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift

License/Certification:
