    Description

    La Josie, a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Randolph Row, has been sharing authentic family recipes and supporting top agave distillers from across Mexico since May 2017. In just a few years, La Josie has become a popular spot to enjoy great food, drinks, and social vibes in the West Loop. Apart from our delicious food menu, we take pride in our exceptional Agave program and meticulously-crafted cocktail selection that is considered one of the best in Chicago. We are always exploring, refining, and expanding our knowledge of traditional Mexican agave distillates.

    We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Bar Support to join our team. As a key part of one of Chicago's leading Agave bar programs, we need someone with strong communication skills, a team player attitude, and a passion for delving into the world of Mexican agave production. The ideal candidate should be motivated, hard-working, and committed to long-term growth with us. A desire to share your knowledge with our team and guests is crucial.

    Requirements:

    • Motivated, innovative, growth-oriented individual
    • Previous bar experience with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Minimum of 1 year experience as a bar back
    • Flexible availability for mornings, evenings, and weekends
    • Bilingual with preference for Spanish language skills
    • Knowledgeable about Mexican cuisine and agave spirits

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    • 4 barback shifts weekly plus 1 bar prep shift
    • Ability to work calmly under pressure
    • Passionate about delivering excellence, maintaining high service standards, and being a positive team player
    • Appreciation for fine food, modern drinks, and elegant style
    • Familiarity with food menus and descriptions
    • Keeping up-to-date with agave spirit knowledge
    • Maintaining a professional appearance
    • Strong time and attendance management abilities

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Valid servsafe certifications such as basset and food handlers
    • Commitment to upholding cleanliness, safety, and health standards in the workplace
    • Capable of multitasking with meticulous attention to detail
    • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:
    • Adaptability and open-mindedness towards job requirements
    • Able to handle restaurant equipment and move around (up to 50 lbs.)
    • Must stand, walk, and move continuously during shifts, including bending and stooping
