The Clinical Biomechanist works in the Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Department and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Vicon camera and computer system as well as the Bertec and AMTI force plates.

The person will be responsible for all biomechanical testing and reporting, including the integration of Vicon software to generate reports for provider and client use.

Significant software programming and integration will be involved. Additionally, program development will be expected, specifically the development of retail biomechanical analysis services for performance enhancement as well as protocols for patient assessment

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.


  • Acts as lead in operations of Bertec and AMTI force plates; coordinate integration of force plate with Vicon system.
  • Acts as lead in operations of 8channel Delysis EMG systems.
  • Acts as lead in operations of Noraxon Rehab walk treadmill systems.
  • Collaborates with MD's, physical therapists, and coaches in performing clinical analysis of movement for rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
  • Writes movement analysis reports through the integration of the C-Motion analysis program to the Cortex data capture program; provide reporting to clients, physicians, physical therapists and coaches.
  • Facilitates integration of force plate, Vicon motion capture and software system for the provision of patient feedback and movement reporting
  • Collects kinetic, kinematic, electromyography, and foot pressure data.
  • Consults with physical therapist concerning physical examination and observational gait analysis. Reviews patient data with gait analysis team. Prepare clinical reports.
  • Performs operations of RunSafe clinic.
  • Contributes to program development of sports performance programs and all programming of movement analysis systems.
  • Contributes and assist with research projects. Reviews and compiles research data. Prepare data and reports for clinical presentations, research presentations, and journal submissions.
  • Assists with computer, equipment, and hardware problems.
  • Assists with client data errors and collection errors.
  • Maintains storage of client and research data in accordance with departmental standards. Knowledge of the Health insurance portability and accountability act (HIPPAA) and protected health information (PHI)
  • Prepares inservices and lectures for faculty, physicians, students, physical therapist, engineers, and other rehabilitation providers.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying._

Education:
Master degree in a work-related field


Experience:
One (1) year of progressively directly related work experience.


License/Certification:
None required.
