    Description

    Personal Assistant to Retired Academic (Embassy Row, Washington DC)

    Retired statistician, young grandmother, and competitive ballroom dancer seeks Personal Assistant to help with varied aspects of her life. She has recently started taking care of her 3-year-old grandson, and has neglected to keep up with many tasks she used to do on a regular basis. She wants someone to do them so her life can run more smoothly, so she can take better care of her husband (an academic and businessman), and most important, herself. 1/3 of the position will be taking care of the grandson, who is precocious and easy.

    Requirements include:

    BA/BS from competitive US college

    Minimum 3 years' assistant work or equivalent

    Experience taking care of young children

    Facility with software and apps including Excel, Dropbox and Airtable

    A real appreciation for the arts, such as fine art, dance, opera, theater

    An aptitude for decorating and sourcing

    An overall sense of maturity and orientation regardless of age

    Ability to communicate information without worrying unduly about its impact

    Knowing Spanish is a plus but not required

    Responsibilities include:

    Calendar / Reservations

    Travel planning

    Creating organization systems for computer, phone, and maintaining systems already in place

    Childcare, including driving him to appointments and parents' home in Cleveland Park

    Identify cultural activities, in DC and other places, that are of interest

    Consolidating videos

    Working with principal to get better furniture for the home

    Sourcing other necessary items

    Identify IT person to update home systems

    Go through paper mail and email

    Errands

    M-F 10-6, some flexibility needed

    $100K-$120K/year (depending on experience)
