Optical System Design Engineer - Advanced Sensors / R&D / Simulation

We are currently working with a leading research center in Germany that specializes in developing cutting-edge Optical Systems. They are seeking an Optical System Design Engineer to join their team.

This is a full-time position located in Weilheim, Germany.

Key Responsibilities for this Optical System Design Engineer role:

  • Design custom optical sensors for 2D/3D AOI applications in the semiconductor industry.
  • Ensure production machinery meets constraints and optimization targets while maintaining process stability.
  • Support efforts to achieve process targets for scanning speed and precision measurements.
  • Build prototypes, validate performance, and investigate application robustness in dedicated machines.
  • Create set-ups for technician assembly and document assembly procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree or MSc with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience in developing advanced sensors/optical systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of optical sensor technologies, including Triangulation, Whitelight Chromatography, Morie, and Interferometry.
  • Proven skills in optical simulation, CAD design software, and multi-physics simulation.
