JOB DESCRIPTON

JOB TITLE:
Laundry PT


REPORTS TO:
Facility Services Director


JOB SUMMARY:


The primary purpose of your position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the laundry department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or the Director of Laundry Services, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner, and that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Hang personals on clothing racks and fold underwear
  • Pass personals and underwear daily
  • Return empty hangers to laundry department
  • Check at the nurses stations for clothes that need to be labeled
  • Restock linens in physical therapy, dietary department and the beauty salon
  • Replace unreadable clothing labels
  • Check for worn out clothing and clothing in need of mending
  • Keep clothing log updated on lost clothing log and what you have done to find residents clothing, after 3days report clothing that has not been found to your supervisor
  • Label resident doors, closets, drawers, etc. as needed
  • Check to see if new admissions have clothing needing to be labeled
  • Maintain residents closets in an organized manner
  • Assist in main laundry room as needed
  • Manage clothing donations per facility needs
  • Stock laundry chemicals and supplies as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Supply Functions:
_

  • Ensure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies are maintained in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the resident
  • Keep supervisor informed of supply needs
  • Keep work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Report all equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as practical
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, etc., as necessary/directed
  • Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary/directed
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift
  • Resident Rights:_
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information
  • Maintain privacy by knocking before entering a residents room
  • Report complaints of missing property to supervisor immediately
  • Turn in found articles to your supervisor
  • Assure that the residents rights to fair and equitable treatment, selfdetermination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times
  • Personnel Functions:_
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors
  • Follow work assignments and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
  • Cooperate with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that facility services can be adequately maintained to maintain the cleanliness of the facility
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by residents
  • At least one hour prior to start time, notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work
  • Safety and Sanitation:_
  • Follow all established safety procedure and precautions when using equipment and supplies
  • Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects
  • Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
  • Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used in the work area. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) when necessary
  • Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDS
  • Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor
  • Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures
