    Overview

    Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital (FHSH) is a unique specialty hospital in Central California known for its luxurious accommodations, excellent patient experience and five-star cardiac, vascular and bariatric surgery services. Healthgrades and patients alike, have rated our facility among the top California hospitals when it comes to providing a healing environment. We have 48 private patient suites that are able to accommodate a patient's overnight guest. Also, an additional nine private intensive care suites. We are a technologically advanced facility with surgical suites that promote minimally-invasive techniques for cardiac, vascular, bariatric and general surgery.

    Responsibilities

    Under the direction of a licensed clinical staff member, the Patient Care Tech 2 (PCT2) provides basic patient care, clerical support and heart rhythm monitoring using defined procedures and standards in accordance with the goals of the unit and the philosophy of Community Medical Centers (CMC). Performs and assists with elemental aspects of patient care such as nutrition, bed scale weights, intake/output (I/O), taking vital signs, monitoring heart rhythm patterns, etc. in coordination with the patient care team. Assists licensed clinical staff as needed with direct patient care and provides administrative and office management support to the unit(s). Serves as a centralized focus of administration, information and communication.

    Qualifications

    Education

    * High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
    * Successful completion of one of the following is required
    *
  • Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
    * Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program
    * Obtain a diploma/certificate from an accredited Paramedic program
    * Nursing Fundamental courses from an accredited clinical RN or LVN program (typically done in the 1st semester)

    * Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Recognition or ECG/EKG interpretation course required

    Experience

    * 1 year of relevant healthcare experience required
    * 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    * BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
    * One of the following is required

  • CNA - State of California Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (active or inactive status is acceptable)
    * EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
    * AEMT - Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
    * PARAMEDICC - Paramedic Certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (active or inactive status is acceptable)
    * TRANSCRIPT - RN or LVN Student/Graduate

    CHS HealthStream Course

    * ECG - ECG Rhythm Exam Non-Clinical (Administered by CHS) required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
