SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Controller will be responsible for providing oversight of the organization's consolidated financials and general ledger.

This includes the main entities of The Bridge and Weston United as well as the consolidation of numerous properties throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and The Bronx.

This position requires a strong accounting background, the ability to organize tasks, and strong leadership skills to oversee the accounting staff.

The Controller works closely with the rest of the Finance team and all other departments within The Bridge.


ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:


  • Oversee general accounting, including the consolidation of lowincome properties which focus on supportive and affordable housing.
  • Actively manage the accounting staff by providing leadership, support, guidance, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Manage the monthly closing process and review the financials prior to internal distribution.
  • Provide direct oversight of audits, financial statements, and 990's.
  • Monitor and analyze intercompany transactions, including monitoring management and developer fees payable by the affiliate entities.
  • Manage the organization's banking relationships.
  • Review the monthly cash flow analysis.
  • Review the monthly Accounts Receivable analysis.
  • Oversee and actively manage the Client Receivables process, work closely with the residential property team, and ensure that charges and payments are properly recorded in both Tangicloud/Business Central and RealPage.
  • Work with the Finance team to monitor Affiliate budgets vs Bridge program budgets for contract maximization.
  • Review and post journal entries in the general ledger, as needed.
  • Perform special projects and focus on other duties as assigned.
  • Superior attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and to mentor more junior team members.
  • Exceptional Excel skills with an aptitude to embrace new technology, systems, and workflows.
  • Aptitude for financial variance analysis.
  • Ability to adapt to and prioritize competing demands.
  • Desire to constantly learn and grow.

Requirements Include:


  • Bachelor's Degree in related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and preferably, a demonstrated knowledge of fund accounting systems.
  • Nonprofit experience and working with government agencies a plus (preferably in the area of affordable housing).
  • Knowledge of NYC/NYS/Federal Social Service Agency Fiscal and Contracting Procedures [OMH/DOHMH/DHS/HUD] (preferred).

$120, $150,000.00 per year
