    Description

    The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Director of Support Services for our Family Advocacy team.

    The Director of Support Services is an experienced leader who has knowledge of child abuse, victim services, family dynamics, and cultural competency. As an important advocate in the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center multidisciplinary team, they ensure that quality programs and services are provided by the FA team on behalf of the child victims. Responsible for directing and managing all aspects of DCAC family advocacy and support services. Encourages client and family participation in the investigation, treatment, and support services available through DCAC with the hope of reducing trauma for children and non-offending family members.

    ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

    We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members.

    We are a national and international leader in the Children's Advocacy Center movement, recognized for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting-edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non-offending family members; and our community and professional training programs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Program Oversight:
    • Provides administrative, organizational, and programmatic oversight for the agency's victim support and advocacy services.
    • Ensures suitable metrics and key performance indicators are in place to measure the performance and progress of the Family Advocacy / Support Services program and team members.
    • Serves as an advocate with internal and external stakeholders across the multidisciplinary team to ensure the DCAC Support Services team is utilized as required by legislative mandates.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains standardized program processes and procedures that ensure services are free of barriers for children in need of services at DCAC.
    • Maintains a high level of fiscal responsibility in managing the program's budget and completes accurate funding and productivity reports.
    • Develops departmental short- and long-term goals and objectives that align with the agency's strategic plan.
    • Maintains high level of expertise within victim, support and advocacy services by staying current on relevant literature, research, and interview trends.
    • Works closely with the Chief Programs Officer to set the evaluation framework and ongoing direction for Dallas CAC Family Advocacy / Support Services.
    • Works closely and meets with the SMU research team ensure client screenings are being administered accurately and documented correctly to ensure clean research data; collaborates with SMU research team and provides research information for publications as needed.
    Leadership Oversight:
    • Directs and leads the daily operations of the Family Advocacy / Support Services team.
    • Provides supervision, coaching, and professional development support to Assistant Directors of Support Services and their team members.
    • Handles and resolves department complaints, concerns, and policy issues.
    • Manages annual performance evaluation and goals for direct reports based on the agency's strategic plan.
    • Fosters effective teamwork between (your program staff) and staff in other DCAC programs.
    • Ensures family advocates receive high-quality supervision focused on both case consultation as well as the advocate's professional growth and well-being. Responsible for interviewing, training, and onboarding program staff to build high functioning, collaborative team; works strategically to ensure alignment, communication, and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Oversees, in conjunction with the Assistant Directors, the goals and objectives setting process and the annual employee performance evaluation process.
    • Supports individual and team wellness through the implementation of CE-CERT skills and debriefing.
    • Provides staff with regular opportunities for relationship and team building, and staff recognition and support.
    • Fosters effective teamwork between Family Advocacy / Support Services staff and staff in other DCAC programs.
    • Represents the organization on a local, state, and national level by presenting at conferences and participating as a member of task forces/planning committees in the field. Ensure the on-call rotation is up to date to ensure coverage for priority case response 24/7; Serve as part of the supervisor on-call rotation to provide support to the on-call family advocates after hours, including occasional weekends and holidays.
    Compliance:
    • Responsible for the oversight, coordination, evaluation, and compliance with CACTX Texas Standards for CACs, NCA accreditation standards, and Texas Family Code and Administrative code; conducts annual reviews to ensure family advocacy and support services follow required standards, statutes, and laws.
    • Consistently strives to identify and adopt best practices to positively impact processes and outcomes.
    • Manages preparation and maintenance of departmental statistical reports, records, and summaries and completes funding and productivity reports and ensures accuracy.
    • Evaluates feedback from participants and partners to assess effectiveness and implement changes or improvements needed.
    Special Events Pertaining to Clients:
    • Stewards' relationships with the Advancement team (Development and Marketing) to support any funding and in-kind opportunities around program development, events, and / or maintenance. When not available from community resources, ultimately ensures that clients' needs are met through the coordination of resources.
      • Client special events include but are not limited to: Holiday of Hope (HOH), Back to School Drive, and other Drive Thrus.
      • Client needs include but are not limited to: Clothing Closet, Activity Center, Room Makeovers, and general assistance items.
      • Client services include but are not limited to: Kids in Court, CHAMP Camp, and Dining Series.
    Training:
    • Attends on-going training in field subject matter.
    • Completes agency compliance training.
    Other Duties:
    • Participates in relevant peer meetings and individual team meetings to collaborate, report on trends, and problem solve with all relevant stakeholders.
    • Attends and participates in monthly supervisor meetings.
    • Attends and participates in check-in meetings with Chief Program Officer.
    • Attends and participates and/or assists with Crimes Against Children Conference.
    • Support the Chief Program Officer in executing strategies in the DCAC strategic plan.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    Education and experience: Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university required with a focus in social work, family systems, psychology, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

    Two to four (2-4) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a director role. At least four (4) years of non-profit experience; experience as a leader in the CAC industry preferred but not required.

    Bilingual preferred, but not required.

    Required License(s) or Certifications: Valid and clear TX DL. Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW), preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims and perpetrators.
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
    • Skilled at being creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, flexible, possessing a positive attitude, tact, good judgment, cultural sensitivity, and working well as a team member with staff, community professionals, and volunteers.
    • Ability to bring others together to try and reconcile differences and uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; builds effective teams.
    • Skilled at modeling a purposeful culture that is realistically optimistic and not imbued with a crisis mentality.
    • Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees, board members, partners, and community.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work Location: All work must be performed in the office due to client confidentiality. Employees working at DCAC for six (6) months are eligible to apply for a hybrid work schedule.

    Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs.).

    Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
