- Build and maintain relationships with current suppliers, focusing on negotiation for favorable terms to support ongoing business needs (contracts, terms, deadlines, etc.).
- Collaborate with material users to establish a vendor scorecard for assessing vendor partnerships.
- Authorize and manage the procurement of essential goods and services to ensure continuous availability for production.
- Implement risk management protocols to minimize losses in case of product shortages.
- Compare our current pricing with industry peers to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Identify and assess new suppliers to facilitate product innovation or cost reduction strategies.
- Serve as a point of contact for external buying groups to explore synergies that could strengthen negotiation positions.
- Keep relevant departments updated on price changes, product availability, inventory levels, etc., while working on reducing inventory levels and shortage risks.
- Supervise warehouse functions including inventory accuracy, safe storage practices, and compliance with GMP standards.
- Create or oversee the development of production schedules based on historical data and input from the sales team.
- Maintain high case fill rates in the cooler and minimize waste by tracking and reporting critical metrics.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in your area of influence.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Prior experience as a Procurement Manager or Production Scheduler
- Technical proficiency in manufacturing and warehouse operations
- Competent in using various computer systems and software applications
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement tactics
- Strong negotiation, networking, and contract management skills
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and decision-making
- Familiarity with continuous improvement principles and their practical implementation
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration
- Case Fill Rate (percentage of orders filled for distribution)
- Scrap Rate (dollars of scrap material due to overproduction)
- Unplanned downtime (production delays due to raw or packaging material shortages)
- Annual Cost Savings (overall savings achieved through procurement initiatives)
