Position Description


Art Start's Creative Connections Program Director will oversee and direct the trajectory of Art Start's Creative Connections program activities and impact in New York, including multiple projects including the Emerging Artist Residencies, Summer Creative Career Exploration Internships, Creative Industry Apprenticeships, Arts College Access and Persistence, and a steady stream of drop-in activities and recruitment/retention access points for youth and young adults ages Project planning and trajectory tracking of milestones and outcomes are an important part of this director position.


This position will manage part-time direct reports that support execution of projects, and this position will report directly to the Executive Director, collaborating with the evaluation and development/marketing team.

Periodic travel to Milwaukee will be required. Once-annual national travel with students is required.


Responsibilities:


  • Enrollment and recruitment of new participants while building and maintaining engagement of current participants and referral contacts.
  • Administrative oversight of program activities, including weekly meetings, managing project flows, and ensuring milestones are met for program goals.
  • Ensure logístical coordination for programs, directly or through supervision of report staff
  • In collaboration with the Co-Executive Director and Marketing Manager, ensure programs are properly promoted, both in person and through online communications and advertisements.
  • Manage all program expenses, including student stipends
  • Confer with Art Start appointed social worker for program impact, outcomes and key youth needs through their individualized service plans
  • Engage youth directly in weekly group meetings and other oneonone meetings, as needed. Sustained engagement with general Creative Connections participants through outreach and check ins
  • Maintain effective relationships with program donors, volunteers, and supporters, including a collaborative effort with Co-Executive Director to attract more support.
  • Serve as point person for reporting back to funders for Creative Connections outcomes, with the support of the larger Development team.
  • Strategic planning of Creative Connections programs
  • Generating new and maintaining existing strategic partnerships including community, program and industry partners to develop funding and programming opportunities.
  • Helping to oversee an orderly, organized and prepared program space for staff and students to maximize the program's opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Arts, Community art, or other related field, or commensurate professional experience in a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of managerial and supervisory experience
  • Ability to perform and monitor data management and collection.
  • Writing grant reports and designing program materials for internal and external sources
  • At least three years of direct engagement with youth from historically marginalized communities, ages 142
  • Afterschool availability up to 4 days per week during school year and summer months
  • Commitment to strengthbased, healingcentered youth engagement
  • Embraces project management technology to collaborate with youth and team in other cities
  • Exhibits high level of professionalism, reliability and work ethic with high standards for quality
  • Proven skills in multitasking coordination, both streamlined and individualized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Interest in/commitment to ongoing education/professional development in related topics
  • Multimediasavvy preferred but not required (ie., Adobe, music production, or graphic design, among others)
  • Personal and professional experience in the arts
