Position Summary


Responsibilities:


  • Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental approach with all clients and coworkers
  • Provide animals with food, water, walks, enrichment, and other essential daily needs
  • Maintain clean animal housing following our highstandard cleaning guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and objective records in our animal management software
  • Work cooperatively within your own department and cross departmentally
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Available to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts
  • Position begins midMay and concludes in late August, dates negotiable
  • Must be able to routinely carry 25lbs and up to 50lbs
  • Must be committed to our organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness, innovation, professionalism, equity, and positive approach
  • Ability to manage assigned personal schedule and timecard
  • Prior animal care and client service experience a plus
  • Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply

About Us
The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin.

Founded in 1879, WHS operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis.

The organization offers adoption services, youth and outreach programs, veterinary resources for the community, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes.

The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state's busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.
