Job Description:


SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES


60% Perform regular analysis of product and raw materials using a variety of analytical techniques including spectroscopic and microscopic techniques.

Perform advanced, unconventional analyses of product and raw materials in such a way that is designed to probe underlying material

properties. Prepare detailed reports of the results of the analyses.

20% Provide technical direction for smaller projects and conduct testing and analysis as part of larger project teams and technical service activities and contribute to driving R&D projects to

commercial fruition

10% Drive pilot and production scale-up activities in support of commercialization of products and

processes

10% Perform other duties as assigned

Technical knowledge/skills (entry, intermediate, advanced)

  • Strong chemistry and engineering skills (advanced)
  • Uses standard DOE packages to set up and analyze experiments and able to use SPC data to
progress in trouble-shooting (advanced)

  • Laboratory safety and understanding of OSHA and MSHA requirements (advanced)
  • Knowledge in product quality tests, and understands product requirements versus specifications

  • Capable of refining and reducing to practice patentable/trade secret ideas and concepts

Education/Experience

  • BS in Chemistry, Materials Science, or other chemical/engineering disciplines, with 36 years
relevant experience

OR a Masters in Chemistry, Materials Science, or other chemical/engineering disciplines with 2-4

years relevant experience,

OR a PhD in Masters in Chemistry, Materials Science, or other chemical/engineering disciplines.

Domestic, up to 15%

Working Conditions:
Primarily industrial R&D laboratory and office setting with occasional duties at

manufacturing locations.

Work at a manufacturing location may be performed in enclosed facilities and/or outdoor areas where extremes of heat, cold, dust, noise, wet conditions and rough terrain exist.


Physical Requirements:

Computer, ability to make oral presentations, MSHA / OSHA, lifting objects up to 40 lbs., extended or irregular hours, bending, kneeling, stooping.
