PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Facilitate and coordinate activities related to the admission, renewal, and dismissal (ARD) process.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education / Certification:

Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university:


  • Valid Texas Special Education Certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills:


  • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development and learning theories:

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data:


  • Ability to multi-task with mínimal supervision:

Knowledge of Special Education rules and regulations

Experience:

-
Minimum 3 years' Special Education teaching:


  • Successful experience as an ARD facilitator (preferred)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Notify SERS secretary of ARD date and staff necessary for notification mailings.
  • Assign campus Case Managers for transfer students.
  • Compile, maintain, and oversee the filing of all reports, records and other documents.
  • Ensure that mandated student state testing levels are accurately developed and recorded.
  • Ensure that student information for PEIMS is accurately reported from ARD.
  • Assist Special Services Office with obtaining and or receiving records of transfer students (preview transcripts, attendance, and discipline).
  • Notify teachers and administration of student withdrawals.
  • Conduct campus departmental meetings and attend relevant school, district and professional meetings when necessary.
  • Check student schedules at the beginning of the year for accuracy w/IEP.
  • Schedule paraprofessionals or teacher substitutes (when necessary), to relieve teachers from class if necessary.
  • Process campus referrals to special education from EAC.
  • Stay uptodate professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  • Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  • Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  • Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  • Maintain friendly customerservicedriven interactions with all parents, students, coworkers, faculty and staff.
  • Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct.
  • Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
  • Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
  • Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
  • Support and follow administrative and board policy.
