    The Dept. of Orthopaedics is looking for a Grant Administrator to join their Administration Team.
    With general direction, the GA works with PIs to develop grant submissions, manage pre and post-award process, perform
    budget forecasting, monitor fund statements, resolve accounting issues, and function as liaison to grantor agencies and subcontracting institutions.


    Generally, work involves pre and post award work, however complexity of work, volume, sponsor and proposal type may be considered at this level if only pre-award work is performed.


    Key Responsibilities :

    • Coordinates grant proposal preparation and manages pre-award process
    • Prepares detailed budgets and justifications and materials for financial reports
    • Develops and monitors spending with PIs, including salary allocations and purchase commitments. Rebudgets as necessary and allowed through grant cycle.
    • Assists faculty in identifying mechanisms to obtain funding.
    • Advises PIs on sponsor requirements
    • Interacts with MGB Research Finance staff in establishing and monitoring active funds and in terminating expired funds.
    • Monitors expenditures and assures budgetary compliance; verifies, identifies and evaluates excessive charges. Manages research expenditures to prevent deficit spending
    *Applies knowledge and understanding of regulations to maintain compliance, advise and make recommendations.


    • Works with the Research Management administrative offices
    in the oversight of administrative policies such as the PCRO.


    • Advise regarding the allowability of costs to be
    charged to a grant.

    Work with Research Finance

    to resolve complex accounting issues.


    • Coordinates regularly scheduled time/effort
    reports.


    • Provides timely closeout of all expired projects through the coordination of fiscal and administrative resources throughout the system.
    • Serves as liaison with the Office of Research, Ventures,
    and Lic. to explore new funding sources; notifies PIs of funding opportunities.


    • Stays current with all new and existing regulatory requirements and institutional policies/procedures,
    and keeps PIs and department leadership informed of changes.


    Qualifications:

    Qualifications :
    Bachelor's degree required.

    1-2 yrs of directly related research administration experience.


    Skills And Competencies:
    *Excellent working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, accounting and word processing computer applications.


    • Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills; strong organization and coordination skills
    *Must be accurate, organized and able to work with a large amount of financial data


    • Good working knowledge of research agency, sponsor and organization funding guidelines, policies, etc.
    • Good negotiation skills
    *Able to work independently using good judgement to identify and resolve problems.
