    GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:


    The incumbent works under the general direction of the Co-Chiefs of the Orthopaedic Pediatric Service and is required to work with physicians, clinical nurses, and staff to identify and recruit eligible patients for clinical studies and oversee all aspects of clinical research.

    This incumbent will be the primary research compliance officer for the Pediatric Service, responsible for obtaining regulatory approval at both the local and federal level for the service's research endeavors.

    Additionally, the incumbent will act as primary contact for all of service's research-related administration.

    The incumbent will be required to commute to two locations (Boston and Foxboro) for the duration of the position.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collects & organizes patient data
    • Maintains records and databases
    • Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports
    • Recruit and consent patients for clinical research
    • Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.
    • Conducts library searches/literature reviews
    • Verifies accuracy of study forms
    • Updates study forms per protocol
    • Documents patient visits and procedures
    • Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC procedures
    • Assists with interviewing study subjects
    • Administers and scores questionnaires
    • Provides basic explanation of studies to patients and their parent(s)/guardian(s)
    • Performs study procedures
    • Assists with study regulatory submissions
    • Writes protocols and consent forms
    • Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria
    • Performs administrative support duties as required

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

    • Ability to travel to both the Boston and Foxboro hospital locations is required
    • Careful attention to details
    • Great organizational skills
    • Ability to follow directions
    • Great communication skills
    • Computer literacy
    • Working knowledge of clinical research protocols
    • Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects' rights and individual needs

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above.
    • Prior experience in research, statistics, and some basic medical knowledge are preferred.
