Description
Job Description:
Grant Writer
Felton Institute
AGENCY OVERVIEW
Founded in 1889, the Felton Institute (formerly Family Service Agency of San Francisco) has a history of innovation in services for vulnerable children, families, and adults. Feltons mission is to respond to human needs with cutting edge social services and treatment that combine the best social science research with cultural sensitivity, a deep respect for the consumer, and a commitment to social justice. With over 46 programs in 15 languages at sites throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding counties, our comprehensive array of services reaches across all racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic lines. Felton offers a dynamic, challenging, and supportive work environment where staff is encouraged to increase their skills and enter new domains.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
As part of Feltons Administration Division, the small but highly flexible Development Department is responsible for stewarding the creation and implementation of the agencys long-term development plan. Currently, Felton is predominantly funded through public contracts in behavioral health and other social services. The Development Department works to secure public and private funding, the fundraising and relationship-building efforts of Feltons Board of Directors and developing partnerships and collaborations that support the agency's short and long-term strategic goals. These functions help ensure that Felton has the resources it needs to continue to perform its mission.
POSITION SUMMARY
As an essential part of the Development team, Feltons Grant Writer will work with other team members and program personnel to respond to public and private contract and grant opportunities. The Grant Writer will prepare Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information, and Requests for Qualifications (RFP, RFI, and RFQs), create content, organize content from others, and create/inform any required supportive documentation (job descriptions, letters of support, resumes, logic models, budgets) for each proposal. The Grant Writer will support the ongoing development of the grants knowledge library and help maintain internal tracking and management systems.
The Grant Writer will help identify grant opportunities and work to cultivate, solicit, and network with private, corporate, and other government Grantmakers who offer funding opportunities in our areas of expertise. This position will support the Teams relationships and communications with current and prospective Grantmakers, including drafting reports and acknowledgment letters. This position requires an enthusiastic and skilled writer, ideally a driven, social-service professional with proposal-writing experience who truly values Felton Institutes mission and values.
