Description

Summary
To maintain safety and consistency throughout the company's structure. The safety coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a safety culture where zero incidents are the norm. They work closely with Operations Managers and Superintendents to implement safety programs and ensure necessary resources are available.

It is essential to communicate to all employees that any injury, property damage, or near miss is a result of an underlying unsafe condition that was not dealt with.

Ensure consistent safety compliance across different divisions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update safety rules and Standard Operating Procedures. Inform the field and safety team about any changes.
  • Lead safety events, training sessions, and safety team meetings. Review accident investigations and work with field personnel to address safety hazards.
  • Manage the Toolbox Talks program and create custom talks addressing recent incidents. Conduct job site inspections and document safety hazards.
  • Assist with workers' compensation and property damage claims. Investigate injuries and accidents, ensuring proper medical treatment.
  • Implement safety programs such as drug screenings and Return-to-Work initiatives.
  • Ensure completion of mandatory training and assist in scheduling retraining sessions. Enforce Site-Specific Safety Plans and conduct job site meetings to educate employees on hazards.
  • Support field safety officers and review Site-Specific Safety Plans with the project team.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in environmental safety & health, or 5 years of relevant construction industry safety experience, preferably in concrete.
  • OSHA 500, CSMC, or Construction Safety Site Technician Certification or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background and drug screenings.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred education and experience

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
