Job Objectives
Working under the direction of the Recreation Director, the employee will execute, with assistance from his/her staff, the leading and management of all playground recreation activities.
Primary Job Functions
- Reports directly to Recreation Director
- Schedules and conducts all employee trainings in coordination with Recreation Director
- Attends all seasonal employee trainings
- Manages Playground Recreation staff scheduling and provides adequate coverage for each site.
- Attends inservice training orientation and all playground recreation staff meetings
- Assists in planning, leading and evaluating recreational activities in games, crafts recreational sports, special events, special scheduled rotating programs, tournaments, story hours, low organized games, and any other events
- Accountable for recording and organizing multiple parks' daily attendance
- Corresponds daily with operators of the Free Lunch Program
- Responsible for equipment and supplies to be maintained and used properly
- Maintain a recreation atmosphere by planning and leading organized games, arts/crafts, sports, and special activities in coordination with other recreation staff
- Compiles weekly shopping lists for each site and purchases supplies according to procedures administered by the Recreation Director and Park Director.
- Promotes activities with flyers
- Follows and complies with dress code for the summer playground program.
- Performs duties in accordance with the city's safety rules and operating regulations and practices
- Reports all playgrounds participant problems Recreation Director
- Reports suspicious characters and activities to Recreation Director and Park Office
- Report and clean parks of litter, debris, and vandalism
- Other duties as assigned

General Requirements
- Prior playground staff experience preferred
- Must be creative, and spontaneous and able to lead recreation activities
- Must be well organized and efficient
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have transportation available at all times
- Must have good leadership, organizational and communication skills and like working with children of all ages
- Must be able to pass a background check
- First Aid & CPR preferred certification
- Ability to work entire summer
- Valid driver's license

$15.00 per hour

- Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
License/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- CPR Certification (preferred)

Ability to Relocate:
- Fort Wayne, IN 46803: Relocate before starting work (required)
