    Responsibilities

    What you'll be challenged to do:
    Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, now a division of TranSystems,

    is excited to announce we are actively searching for a

    Bridge Design Engineer

    to join our award-winning team.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and related structures
    Developing details of bridge components for contract drawings
    Calculating quantities and developing construction cost estimates
    Reviewing shop drawings
    Assisting on bridge inspections
    Writing Bridge Inspection Reports
    Performing Load Ratings
    Participating in project meetings and writing minutes of such meetings
    Designing and/or inspecting other types of structures such as light standards, sign supports, etc.

    Qualifications

    What you bring to our firm:
    Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
    0 to 4 years of relevant design experience
    EIT required
    Must be knowledgeable and proficient in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
    The ability to learn computer programs such as Merlin Dash, Conspan, DESCUS, RC Pier, STAAD, L-Pile, etc.
    The ability to learn various codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, etc.
    Must have a valid driver's license
    Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
    What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:
    Knowledge of Microstation a plus

    Work Environment:
    Both office and field work
    Field work involves bridge inspection which occasionally consist of working at heights, climbing, and working in confined space.
    Field work may be required during any season
    Must be able to lift ladder, assist in moving boat, and perform other light physical activity
    Travel with overnight stay may be required occasionally.
    Occasional response to emergency situations at any time or day may be expected
