    Position Summary

    Under general direction the Human Resources Generalist performs a wide variety of human resources business processes while presenting a professional, value-added representation of the human resources function.

    Essential Functions

    Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Assist in the administration of benefits and wellness plans.
    • Provide administrative support to the HR team as assigned.
    • Educate employees regarding the retirement benefits program and assist employees in planning for and entering retirement. Maintain PERS tracking.
    • Assist employees with routine benefits questions and issues and facilitate resolution of escalated issues, advocating for timely and appropriate resolution of benefit matters.
    • Assist the Benefits Team with leave of absence management by proficiently administering all aspects of medical, military, and other leaves and work-related illness/injury claims; providing leave case management expertise; assisting employees and communicating with management as the situation warrants; and facilitating resolution of accommodation requests.
    • Reconcile benefit invoices.
    • Assist with retiree benefit subsidy tracking.
    • Assist with annual biometric screening.
    • Performs data entry in the HR database.
    • Provides support to the HRIS Administrator.
    • Cross-trains to multiple areas of HR. Documents procedures. Explains policies and procedures to staff. Responds to inquiries and requests from internal and external customers.
    • Conducts CIP reviews and maintenance.
    • Facilitates portions of new hire orientation.
    • Manages CDLs and drug/alcohol program.
    • Meets ongoing position expectations, including but not limited to:
    • Participates in HR development (conferences, webinars, seminars, workshops), and trains HR team on knowledge gained.
    • Learns and maintains general understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Gains understanding of utility industry.
    • Demonstrates commitment to Grant PUD's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations.
    • Understands and adheres to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies and procedures.
    • Actively participates in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:
    • following all safety policies and procedures.
    • alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions.
    • reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to supervisor.
    Education and Experience

    Required
    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field, or 7+ years equivalent professional experience.
    • Technical knowledge in the following areas of human resources; benefits, leave administration, HRIS, and knowledge of payroll.
    Preferred
    • Advanced degree in human resource management, business administration, project management, or related field.
    • Experience generating and creating reports including proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office product suite and HRIS reporting capabilities.
    • Experience overseeing and managing project deliverables and timelines.
    License and Certification

    Required
    • A valid State driver's license with no restrictions.
    Preferred
    • Professional certification in human resources, benefits, project management or closely related field.
    Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of current, general knowledge of HR principles and federal and state employment laws
    • Skill in demonstrated interpersonal skills, average Microsoft Office skills, HRIS experience, determining when issues need escalation to HR management.
    • Ability to read, write and comprehend both verbal communications and written directions
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and tech savvy in general
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company policies, procedures and agreements
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to managers and employees of the organization
    • Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise
    • Powerful and confident communication skills with the ability to effectively present to all levels of the organization
    • Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations and competing priorities
    • Ability to develop credible relationships with business partners
    • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items
    Physical Requirements
    • Position may be eligible for hybrid work arrangement: Yes No
    • Per Grant County PUD policy all employees are required to work at their designated headquarters at least two days per week.
    • Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
    • May perform work in a telecommuting setting.
    • Typical shift of employees in this position: 8 hours 9 hours 10 hours 12 hours
