THE POSITION:


Attention all firefighters:

are you ready for a rewarding new challenge in your already admirable firefighting career? Are you an energetic and productive person with firefighting and fire prevention experience? These are the qualities that the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is searching for in an Installation Firefighter Our staff are conscientious, responsible, and are dedicated to our installation.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

As an Installation Firefighter, you are responsible for performing structural, aircraft, and wild land firefighting. You also perform fire prevention inspections of buildings and aircraft, and inspections of fire protection systems.

Additional duties include performing standby fire watches at hazardous operations in buildings and aircrafts, standing watch at alarm-receiving equipment, emergency medical services, and participating in various training programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment, 40hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM, 24hours on, 72hours off.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Three years of firefighting experience as a member of a municipal or governmental fire department and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Special Requirements:


  • All positions require possession of an active noncommercial class C Pennsylvania driver's license or equivalent.
  • All positions require possession of an active Firefighter II certification and an Airport Firefighter certification from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
  • All positions require possession of an active Hazardous Materials Operations certification and an active Hazardous Materials Awareness certification.
  • All positions must initially and annually be medically certified as meeting the medical requirements of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1582, Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.
  • This position requires possession of an active emergency medical technician (EMT) certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • You must be able to successfully pass a background check to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance for access to restricted areas or federal computer networks.
  • All employees must obtain within one year of hire and maintain an active class B Pennsylvania commercial driver's license or an active certificate of authorization to operate fire emergency vehicles issued by the Fire Chief of the hiring fire station.
  • All employees must obtain within one year of hire and maintain active Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Aerial, Driver/Operator Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) certificates from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.

Additional Requirements:


  • You must be willing and able to work in Annville, PA (Lebanon, County).
  • This position requires possession of an active Firefighter 1 certification from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
