Duties:


  • Performs a variety of nonroutine assignments within the various programs.
  • Performs loan processing and servicing assignments of limited scope and complexity.
  • Under the guidance of a higher graded specialist meets with other lenders and potential borrowers to explain Rural Development programs and requirements.

Qualifications:


  • Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

GS-5 level: For the GS-05 level: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS04; or its non
  • Federal equivalent that demonstrates: performing work in the support of loan making and/or servicing duties, such as providing information to applicants, inputting information into automated systems, and preparing files and reports, or work experience that demonstrated and/or developed a knowledge of the principles of financial analysis, or insurance laws such as contract, property, life, casualty or marine insurance.

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, etc. OR 4 full years of progressively higher-level education leading to such a degree.

Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.

For the GS-07 level:Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05; or its non

possess one (1) full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement (see definition of S.A.A. below) (see qualifying fields of study below);

  • Undergraduate and

Graduate Education:

_ Major study - finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.


  • Combining Education and Experience: _Combinations of successfully completed posthigh school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Determine your qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required. Determine your education as a percentage of the education required. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS9 and GS1
  • Superior academic achievement (S.A.A.) _
  • This provision covers advanced trainee positions that provide opportunities for advancement upon attaining required job skills and knowledge, require no prior experience, and have work classified at two
- grade intervals. It recognizes students who have achieved superior academic standing as evidenced by one of the three methods described below. In order to be creditable under this provision, superior academic achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled.
S.A.A. is based on(1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

  • Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, based on completed courses.

Grade-point average - Applicants must have a grade-point average of:

a. 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or

b. 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
