Job Purpose:
Offsite Adoption Events


  • Assist Offsite Adoption Events Supervisor
  • Assist in preparation of company vehicles with tabling, and animal care items for offsite adoption events
  • Driving animals to offsite adoption events
  • Loading and unloading Offsite Adoption Event materials at event and on return to shelter
  • Performing Adoption Counselor duties during offsite adoption events
  • Ensuring proper procedures are followed for the safety and humane handling of all animals during transport and events
  • Attending offsite adoption event trainings
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed for the safety and humane handling of all animals being transported

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare animal files, adoption packets and retail merchandise for offsite adoption events
  • Load animals in transport vehicles and take from Shelter to offsite location.
  • Oversee and/or complete set up and tear down of offsite adoption event areas.
  • Maintain cooperative, reciprocal relationships with all offsite location personnel and volunteers
  • Evaluate and match adopters with shelter and foster animals
  • Greet, escort and provide accurate information to potential adopters and facilitate clientanimal introductions.
  • Responsible for keeping offsite facility areas clean during adoptions and before leaving.
  • Responsible for the safety of the animals and the public at the offsite adoptions event.
  • Represent the Humane Society of Southern Arizona Society in a professional, polite and enthusiastic manner.
  • Perform customer service to the standards set forth in HSSA's employee manual.
  • Drive company vehicles in performance of company business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:Work is performed at Offsite Adoption Centers and the HSSA Roger Rd Shelter. Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, and sharp objects. Field conditions may be encountered. Able to lift to 50 lb., long periods of standing, bending, stooping, reaching and working outdoors in differing climates and animal handling and restraint in animal shelter setting. Potential exposure of infectious diseases to owned animals. Able to handle all sizes and activity levels of animals.
