Everlasting Education is excited to be expanding its outdoor education program to San Diego This will be our first San Diego Youth Nature Program (ages and we are looking for an experienced and motivated environmental educator who is passionate about outdoor programming, San Diego ecology, place-based learning, nature connection and spending time outdoors to be our lead teacher for Summer 2024 Earth Explorers program.


Earth Explorers is a weeklong summer camp class that provides immersive educational experiences in nature and at culturally significant locations thorughout the city.

These experiences connect our youth participants to the local wildlife and city life that comprise their place:
San Diego.


The Lead Teacher works alongside the Program Director, Assistant Teachers and Executive Director to plan curriculum for each week, adapt plans thoruhgout the week, and reflect and debrief each week to improve and.

They will be the primary contact person for families during the program to confirm locations and provide any important updates throughout the week.

at Everlasting Elementary is responsible for leading hikes to daily classrooms where they ensure student safety and deliver engaging lessons that align with California Department of Education's Curriculum Content Standards and Everlasting Education's 4 Pedagogical Pillars.

This role includes daily hiking, with an average of 3 miles of walking per day, with backpacks weighing pounds. Please see below for a detailed listing of role responsibilities and requisites.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create meaningful, positive relationships with students and families
  • Provide an open and encouraging learning environment for all students
  • Effectively and efficiently direct assistant teachers, delegating tasks throughout the school day
  • Develop a deep understanding of the needs of each student
  • Implement timely itineraries from 8:00am 3:30pm each weekday
  • Weekly planning meetings with the Program Director and Assistant Teachers
  • Design and deliver student needsbased curriculum, taking into consideration individual learning styles, abilities, and interests to foster personalized and engaging learning experiences
  • Develop and implement naturebased curriculum that aligns with Everlasting Education's curriculum model
  • Foster a studentcentered learning environment that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and a love for nature and learning
  • Convey the importance of traditional ecological native knowledge and living with the land
  • Facilitate inquirybased learning
  • Resolve student conflicts with active listening and restorative justice
  • Actively respond to student and class needs throughout the day
  • Regularly communicate with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss individual learning goals, and seek input to further personalize their curriculum.
