- Oversee the end-to-end administration of employee leave program, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
- Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave
- Support employees with the FMLA leave administration process with our external vendor, if needed. This may include some guidance about gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use
- Manage and resolve complex leave cases, collaborating with HR, legal, and HRBA team;
- Provide guidance on challenging leave scenarios, including ADA accommodations, extended medical leaves, and other unique circumstances
- Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees, their managers and external vendor during leave within reason
- Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers' compensation, or other leave(s)
- Facilitates accommodation requests under the ADA
- Work with our COE on drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices
- Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required
- Two years of human resource experience preferred
- Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus
- San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $78,000 to $124,000 per year
- California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $72,000 to $114,000 per year
