Located just minutes fromthe shores of Padre Island, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital CorpusChristi-South provides surgical and medical services for ourpatients in south Corpus Christi. Perfectly positioned to serve therapidly-growing south side of Corpus Christi, CHRISTUS SpohnHospital Corpus Christi - South is licensed for 158 beds. Southoffers a full range of medical and surgical services includingpediatrics, obstetrics, skilled nursing, emergency, intensive careas well as advanced diagnostic and imaging. The hospital is alsohome to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which enablesrecovering mothers to remain close to their premature or specialneeds babies.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUSCompetencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader ofLeaders.

• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standardsof Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process,including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention andevaluation for assigned patients

• Addressesincreasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and socialneeds of patient and families in accordance with their level ofpractice

• Using the appropriate protocol, administersmedications and treatments; monitors for side-effects andeffectiveness of the treatment prescribed

• Documentspatient history, symptoms, medication, and care given

•Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, familymembers and/or care givers; identify issues and resources

• Recognizes unexpectedreadings and alerts nursing or medical staff

• Relatesexamples of mis-readings or misinterpretations and lessonslearned

Patient Safety

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree inNursing
• One year experience in nursingpreferred.
  
• Current Texas State RNLicense or Compact RN License
  
• BLS(American Heart Association)
• ACLS required attime of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtainACLS by the end of the clinical orientationperiod.
• NIHSS required within 90 days ofhire/transfer date
• De-escalation trainingrequired within 90 days of hire/transferdate
• TNCC required within 6 weeks of hire forexperienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain TNCC within 18months of hire/transfer date.
• PALS required attime of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtainPALS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
