The State of New Hampshire, Department of Education, Division of the Deputy Commissioner and Bureau of Governance has a part time vacancy for a Right to Know Program Assistant.

Scope of Work:
Performs paraprofessional work by serving as the assistant to the Department of Education's legal counsel.

Works independently to receive, review, research, redact and respond to requests under the State's "Right to Know" law (RSA 91-A).**
Accountabilities:
Provides administrative oversight of collecting, maintaining, tracking, and releasing information, utilizing a variety of automated tools and processes, including JIRA, Everlaw, Excel, and Adobe Pro to manage, organize and track Right-To-Know requests.



Reviews, modifies, and drafts documents and correspondence.

Reviews Right to Know requests made to the Department to determine if requests are compliant or exempt based on current law.

Prepares correspondence, answers telephone calls, and responds to requests, ensuring adherence to the timeliness constraints as set forth by RSA 91-A.

Coordinates and communicates with Department personnel in collecting agency documents and records requested under RSA 91-A. Assists with evaluation of collected documents to determine if documents are responsive to Right-To-Know requests.

Collects, organizes, reviews, and redacts documents requested under RSA 91-A in compliance with current laws, under the supervision of staff counsel.

Assists with the on-going training by the Legal Unit to Department staff to ensure best practices for staying compliant with RSA 91-A.

Oversees daily administrative functions of the Legal Department, including maintaining calendar, schedules and coordinates all appointments and meetings. Opens, sorts and prioritizes all incoming mail.

Provides administrative assistance to the agency's staff attorney(s).

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:

Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with major study in a communications, public administration, business administration, legal, liberal arts, English or related field.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.**
Experience:Three years of experience in administrative or program support assistance, legal, executive, or research assistant, document coordination and preparation, or related field, with responsibility for providing program information to others.

Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.**
License/Certification:Possession of a valid driver's license and/or access to transportation for use in statewide travel.**
