We are seeking a highly skilledSenior Mechanical Engineer
to work independently as a technical contributor, as well as part of a larger team. The
Senior Mechanical Engineer
will take a project from the conceptual stage to completion, while being able to work with flexibility due to changing customer requirements and project deadlines.
Additionally, this role is responsible for understanding system level interdependencies, communicating effectively and efficiently when problems are identified, and providing possible solutions.
NOTE :
This position will begin in our Portland, ME location and relocate to Saco, Maine later in the year.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics, system dynamics, heat transfer, and material knowledge.
Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties.
Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators.
Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Demonstrates sound engineering and product knowledge
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government/quality regulations and customer confidentiality.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; and requesting special services.
Maintains systems and product database by data entry.
Participates in training and guiding technicians.
Expertise in fabrication techniques including general machine shop processes, rapid prototyping, and 3D printing.
Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to recommend remedies.
Works with client and managers' budgets, timescales, and specifications.
Uses computer-aided design/modeling software to develop designs that satisfy requirements and are designed for manufacture.
Acts as a liaison with suppliers providing feedback and decision making on deviations
Conduct tolerancing of optomechanical assemblies
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering
5-10 years' experience in the Mechanical Engineering field
Required

Tolerancing analysis
Worked in a cross functional team
Able and willing to work in a lab environment:
Assembling Prototypes, Testing, Troubleshooting
Familiarity with at least two of the following manufacturing processes;
Milling, Turning, Finishing, Optical fabrication, Injection molding
Process development and documentation
Proficient computer skills, with solid modeling and simulation experience (Autodesk, Fusion and 360 are preferred)
Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills

Experience with endoscope design
Experience with medical device design
Experience working in an ISO organization
Experience with designing automated/semi-automated fixtures
Material Selection for design and sterilization
Physical requirements:
Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Works in an office setting.
Must be able to work in front of a computer, participate in video calls and telephone calls for long periods.
