The Delegate is a liaison between the Cardinal/Bishop and men and women in the consecrated life [Religious Life, Secular Institutes, consecrated virgins].

The Delegate for Consecrated Life [in collaboration with the administrative assistant]:

  • Serves as a liaison between the Cardinal/Bishop and Major Superiors
  • Does research & drafts letters with memos for Cardinal upon request
  • Serves as liaison between the Bishop and all in Consecrated Life
  • Does research & drafts letters with memos for Bishop Esposito upon request
  • Acts as consultant to persons seeking canonical status in a form of consecrated life [associations of the faithful, consecrated virgins living in the world, secular institutes, religious institutes, societies for apostolic life]
  • Assists religious in their relationships with their pastors.
  • Sends out annual letters to religious &/or their major superiors for:
  • Kennedy Directory
  • Plans ANNUAL events.
  • Jubilee Mass for religious
  • Days of Reflection in Advent & Lent
  • 8th grade vocation Mass
  • Every other year high school or college age vocation days
  • Convenes the following ANNUAL meetings: [responsible to contact members to schedule the meeting, prepares and presents report to committees,
  • Compensation for Religious Meeting meets in January [preparations begin in September/October]
  • O'Neil Grant Foundation usually meets in January [$150,000. To be awarded to retired religious]
  • Forward in Faith award grant to religious in the ADW who need money for convent construction.
  • Prepares Executive Summaries for O'Neil Foundation
  • Assists in communication with cloistered communities, particularly those that require the Bishop's presence at elections and visitations
  • Serves as a resource person for communities and individuals seeking spiritual direction, canon lawyers, psychological services, housing, ministry openings, and retreats, etc.
  • Attends national & regional meetings of NCVR regional usually in October/November & National in March
  • Provides support for those leaving their community, seeking exclaustration, or transferring from one community to another.
  • Acts as a resource for information about consecrated life in the archdiocese
  • Maintains current information on the ADW Facebook
  • Coordinates the appeal for the National Religious Retirement Fund.
  • Upon delegation by the Cardinal, will represent him at Canonical Visitations of Monasteries, communities, and other formal functions.
