Description

Responsibilities:

Within the research and development department for eDrive, our team for mechanical drive systems is part of the pre-development department for powertrains and electric drives.

We conceptualize, develop, and test mechanical and mechatronic components and assemblies for future electrified powertrains (eATS). We work closely with internal departments such as simulation, design, workshops, and test fields.

In light of increasing efficiency requirements for electric powertrains in the automotive industry, new approaches must be taken to reduce weight and thermal mass.

**As part of a thesis, the feasibility of plastic components in electric powertrains should be investigated: - This includes analyzing the current design status of structural components and examining the use of polymer materials

  • This involves considering technical possibilities on the market with internal experts, suppliers, and research institutes, as well as studying comparable components currently in production with a different application focus
  • The goal of the thesis is a thorough analysis of the opportunities, risks, and challenges of switching from metallic alloys to a polymer material for structural components
  • This includes deriving concrete solutions and selecting possible material specifications within the scope of the thesis
  • Finally, the necessary testing requirements to ensure functionality and durability of the switch should be developed

The final topic will be determined in consultation with the university, you, and us.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in plastics engineering, advanced materials, or a comparable field in bachelor's or master's studies
