We are looking for a Buyer for our Spares Department as part of the centralized purchasing team who would be responsible for purchasing service materials for the front line.

You will also execute the purchase order process including supplier follow-up, quality annex review, and feedback processes.

As Buyer for Spares your main responsibilities will be:

  • Review requisitions and confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares purchase orders for products and commodities assigned to support ontime and complete shipments.
  • Investigate, identify and research potential cost savings of either commodities or services by developing supplier relationships, reducing acquisition costs, analyzing engineering requirements or other methods as appropriate.
  • Negotiate contracts within limits of authority.
  • Selects products for purchase by coordinating activities of all departments/field locations. Estimate value according to knowledge of market prices.
  • Prepare, review and accept bid proposals for Purchase Order Change Requests within stated timelines.
  • Maintain procurement, product quality and supplier performance records for supplier quality program.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with quality team to determine root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Interact with warehouse personnel to insure 911 next day shipping requirements to the Front Line.
  • Investigate, identify and order obscure/obsolete parts for Front Line.
  • Develop working knowledge of all competitor equipment.
  • 4+ years related experience.
  • Purchasing management association (APP/CPM) certification desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from fouryear college or university preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and teambuilding skills.
  • Technical understanding of component parts including electrical, mechanical and MRO.
  • Capable to multitask and negotiate favorable pricing consistent with product quality, quantity, specifications, and project leadtime requirements.
  • Skilled in manufacturing purchasing environment with global supply base.
