If you enjoy working on manual projects supporting the U.S Navy and U.S Naval Ships, here's your chance! Serco is looking for a Junior Mechanical Assembler to join a dynamic team backing our US Navy with equipment, and C5ISR system installations in the stunning location of Newport News, Virginia.
You will have a crucial role in ensuring successful and safe work on U.S. Naval Ships and Military installations, which is essential for our Mission to protect and serve our Military.
In this role, you will:
- Follow blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
- Work with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
- Plan and accomplish goals relying on experience and judgment.
- Work on U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in challenging environments with equipment necessitating care and attention to avoid risks.
Qualifications:
To excel in these roles, you need:
- The ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), pass background checks, and drug screenings.
- Firewatch and Cable Installer certification.
- 2 years of Shipboard experience in a related field.
- Experience in tasks like bolting/unbolting cableways, drilling holes, operating machinery, positioning pipe sections, following instructions, equipment handling, safety awareness, technical knowledge, physical abilities, travel flexibility, teamwork, and stress management.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- OSHA Certification.
